Artist's Comments

Not 100% sure about this one, it's probably the Silver-washed Fritillary (Argynnis Paphia), judging by its size (other similar looking ones are Fabriciana Adippe and Fabriciana Niobe.

Taken near a small river, which had dozens of purple flowers near it, it looked like it was set up especially for the butterflies (in reality it was not, of course), as there were also dozens of them there. I enjoyed it.

The colours are really crisp on this one mate, I like the pattern on its wings, once again another fantastic shot by mr. Sander

*burntlimbs dont let the name put you off...
Because the flower is totaly covered by the butterfly it looks like it's flying above the grass instead of "resting" on a flower.
The focus on this one is so much better and DOF is just like it needs to be.
wow, I like this one even better than the other one. I love the colours...

I'm impressed by your knowledge of their names by the way, I wouldn't get any further then: "look, a very beautiful orange and brownish butterfly"

Haha...well the "Elsevier's Vlindergids" helped me a little ;)
